Dominion Cigars could be described as a throwback brand, as it evokes a time (the 1870s to 1920s) when Canada boasted a booming cigar industry. Based in New Westminster, BC, Dominion is aiming to be the only true ’boutique’ Canadian national cigar company.
Dominion cigar blends have been created under the tutelage of Ralph Montero from the renowned Alec Bradley brand. The inaugural series, Black Lotus, features a blend of fine Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos. Its initial release to Canadian retailers features two popular sizes: a Robusto and a Toro.
In August of 2015, Dominion released their second series, dubbed Flor de Claro. This line celebrates Canadian tobacco history by using the namesake of the original Flor de Claro, which was introduced in Montreal in 1887. At that time, the brand used imported Cuban tobacco, while the modern version combines high-quality tobacco from Nicaragua and Honduras to create a balanced medium-bodied blend with notes of cedar, spice, and honey.
