Punch Cafe Royale Natural or Maduro and
Partagas Limited Edition 2004 Series D #1

Punch cigars began in 1840 in Cuba. These cigars were originally intended to appeal to the British market and so were named after the cantankerous Mr. Punch, one half of the Punch and Judy puppet show. The Honduran line of Punch cigars was launched in 1969. The reason that these are the only Punch cigars available in Canada is that the sole distributor of Cuban cigars in Canada does not own the rights to the name Punch. And since no other distributor can import Cuban cigars, the company that does own the rights can only distribute the Honduran Punch. These cigars are made with Cuban seed, along with Dominican and Nicaraguan tobaccos. The wrapper is a full flavored leaf grown in Ecuador. These cigars offer a very consistent experience as well as a long satisfying finish. The New Punch Cafe Royale Natural is a great cigar to enjoy anytime.
Superb!

The Flor de Tabacos de Partagas is the oldest cigar factory in Cuba that is still in operation. It is said that in the 1860's Jaime Partagas was the first to hire a lector to read out loud to the people rolling cigars in the factory. This was and is done for both entertainment and educational purposes. Partagas has always offered the largest selection of shapes and sizes under one brand. At the time of the revolution there were a whopping 265 different models of cigars. As late as 2002 there were still over 40 sizes available, and now there is just over half that amount in production. The Partagas Series D #1 certainly evokes memories of the Partagas of old that boasted one of the fullest blends of tobaccos.

CAO Italia Ciao and Aged 2002 Juan Lopez Patricia

When you think of Italy and all the wonderful things they produce it's not often that premium cigar tobacco is included on that list. Until now that is. This tobacco grown in the Southern Benevento region of Italy between Rome and Naples comes from seeds brought from Cuba to Italy over 40 years ago. The Italian Habanos tobacco is grown exclusively for CAO Italia and is blended with Nicaraguan and Peruvian tobacco finished with a habanos seed Honduran grown binder and wrapper. The unique earthy sweetness from the Italian tobacco lends itself very well to the more robust tobacco in the blend.

La flor de Juan Lopez began in 1870 and was quite popular for many years. More recently production has decreased so that Juan Lopez cigars are manufactured only in small quantities. The cabinet Selections #1 and #2 were only introduced in 1990 due to the demand for more robusto and corona gorda sizes. These cigars are mild by Cuban standards and their trademark flavor is very woody. The Juan Lopez Patricia has been discontinued so don't miss your chance!

Ashton VSG Spellbound and San Cristobal Mercaderes

Introduced in 1999, the Ashton Virgin Sun Grown cigars are one of the most popular Dominican cigars. Carlos Fuente Jr. worked for 2 years to perfect this rich full flavored cigar. Traditionally Ashton cigars are very mild but the VSG line has an extra ligero leaf making this one of the fullest Dominican cigars available. All the Dominican filler and binder is aged 4 to 5 years and is finished off with a specially grown Ecuadorian wrapper. The other special aspect to these cigars is that the soil the tobacco is grown in, has never been used to grow tobacco before. This ensures that the soil is full of all the nutrients necessary for tobacco to be flavorful. An absolute treat for any cigar enthusiast.

This is the first extension we've seen of the San Cristobal de la Habana since its launch in 1999. Each of the 3 new sizes is named after historical streets in Old Havana and they were created to pay tribute to Cuba's historical capital. It is rumored that this is only the first of many tributes to come from San Cristobal. Don't be surprised to see cigars created for a series of monuments, contemporary painters and or even possibly famous parks.  Just as the San Cristobal La Punta is actually a belicoso size, these new cigars also have new names for their sizes. The Muralla (the new size is called a Rodolfo), is the largest of the 3 and is the same length as the El Morro (Double Corona) but with a tapered head! Quite exceptional. The Mercaderes at 6.5 inches by a 48 ring gauge is called a Super Hermoso. The Oficios is the smallest size measuring 5 1/4 by a 44 ring gauge is a Dalias Cortas. These cigars were crafted specifically to alter remarkably with age. You will find these cigars to be medium to full bodied.

La Aurora Preferidos #3
The La Aurora factory is the oldest cigar manufacturer in the Dominican Republic. With almost 106 years and close to 4 generations of experience, we have come to expect only the best from the Leon family. These cigars are no exception. They are reminiscent of the cigars made by Don Eduardo Leon Jimenes in 1903 when the La Aurora factory was founded. The La Aurora Preferido #3 is truly a fine cigar. They boast a gorgeous oily Cameroon wrapper that has been aged in special oak cognac barrels releasing a heady, rich aroma. Expect notes of sweet wood and cream on the palate and a slow lingering finish of cocoa and spice. Another masterpiece from the La Aurora factory!

Cohiba Maduro 5 Magicos and La Aurora 1495 Robusto

La Aurora is the oldest manufacturer of cigars in the Dominican Republic. This new addition certainly lives up the high standard the La Aurora factory has established. The 1495 line commemorates the year that Christopher Columbus landed in the D.R. and founded the city of Santiago de los Caballeros, one of the world's oldest Capital cities. The flavors in this cigar are constantly changing throughout the course of your smoke. The beautiful Ecuadorian sun grown wrapper surrounds a very diverse filler that combines tobacco grown from both corojo and ligero seeds.

The newest addition to the Cohiba family is spectacular! This is the first Maduro cigar to come out of Cuba since before the revolution. On top of that, the Maduro wrapper has been aged for 5 years. These cigars have been smoking smooth and sweet and they are a real treat!
Cohiba cigars began in 1963 as a fuma (a cigar rolled by a torcedor for himself). One of these cigars was presented to Fidel Castro by one of his bodyguards whose friend Eduardo Rivera was rolling these cigars. The legend was born. Until 1966 the cigars had no name. If you can believe it, they were christened Cohiba in passing conversation. Cohiba is the name for cigar used by the Taino Indians of Cuba at the time of Christopher Columbus. Cohiba was released to the public at a launching party at the Ritz Hotel in Madrid in 1982. There were only 3 sizes available (Lanceros, Corona Especiales and Panatela) until 1989 when the Esplendido, Robusto and Exquisito were introduced. These cigars are called "La Linea Clasica". The Siglo line (La Linea 1492) was released in 1992 and offers cigar smokers a milder experience from a Cohiba cigar. Of course these cigars are known for the full yet exceptionally smooth flavor that is achieved primarily through the triple fermentation. An ultimate classic that is a must have for any occasion.

Oliveros Classic Meztizos Natural and Classic Meztizos Maduro

Oliveros cigars are manufactured by Habana Cuba Cigar Company originally founded in 1927 in Cuba. These cigars are hand rolled in the Dominican Republic and blended with both Dominican and Nicaraguan tobacco. The Meztizos size is 6 3/4 x 46. These cigars are highly attractive as the last inch on the foot of the Connecticut Shade cigar is an inch of beautiful Nicaraguan Maduro wrapper, and vise versa on the Maduro Meztizos. We don't see too many two toned cigars and they have been a real treat! These are perfect to smoke anytime as they are mild enough before dinner, and complex enough for after dinner.
Enjoy!

CAO Italia Ciao and Vegas Robaina Don Alejandro

Vegas Robaina was the second new brand of Cuban cigars to be released in the 1990's. It was launched in Spain in 1997. The line is named after D. Alejandro Robaina who is famed for growing the finest wrapper tobacco in the Vuelta Abajo region in Cuba for over 50 years. The Robaina line features five hand rolled sizes, the Don Alejandro, Famoso, Classico, Familiar and the Unico.  Each cigar is hand made from the best tobacco in Cuba, and features a wrapper grown on Sr. Robaina's farms. They are a medium blend with exceptional flavour with hints of Cuban spice and coffee notes.

Romeo y Julieta Hermoso #2 and
Gurkha Master's Select Corona Gorda

The Master Select line by Gurkha can be a very difficult cigar to find. They are all Limited Edition cigars presented inside mahogany chests. The cigars are patiently handcrafted with tobacco grown in the Cibao Valley, and are encased in a velvety smooth Havana 2000 wrapper. They tend to have a rich creamy flavor with a hint of spice enhanced by a long and flavorful finish. At the moment we have 3 sizes to choose from: Corona Gorda, El Duke and Robusto.

Romeo y Julieta began in the 1850's and was officially registered in 1873. RYJ was a brand that in the beginning really specialized in Figurados. Of course as with many brands in the 1960's and 70's there was a very steady decrease in production and out right discontinuation of many sizes that had fallen in popularity. The RYJ Hermosos #2 was released in 2004 as a Limited Edition cigar. These were one of the most popular L.E. cigars for 2004 as they have a larger ring gauge. The wrapper for these cigars has been chosen from the top portion of the tobacco plant givng the cigars the dark and oily texture. It does tend to be a milder cigar but is balanced beautifully.

At the time of the revolution the Montecristo brand of cigars produced only 5 different sizes, the No.1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. More sizes were added to the line as demand grew and Montecristo was established. With Montecristo cigars accounting for 22% of Cuba's total cigar export in 2000 it's no wonder that these cigars enjoy such an astonishing reputation.  The Montecristo "C" L.E. 2003 is a rich and creamy sophisticated smoke.

Cohiba Robusto and La Aurora Preferido #3

Cohiba Robusto has to be the most popular size of all the Cohibas by far. It all began in 1963 as a fuma (a cigar rolled by a torcedor for himself). One of these cigars was presented to Fidel Castro by one of his bodyguards whose friend Eduardo Rivera was rolling these cigars. The legend was born. Until 1966 the cigars had no name. New Macanudo Court Cafe and RYJ L.E. 2007 Escudos

A new addition to the Macanudo Cafe line! The Court Cafe is perfect for when you are in the mood for a smooth creamy cigar but you don't have a lot of time. The word "Macanudo" means "best of the best" and certainly is fitting as Macanudo cigars are the top selling cigars world wide. Originally this brand was released out of Jamaica by the makers of Punch cigars, but in 1971 General Cigar introduced a completely new cigar under the name Macanudo. These cigars were developed by the legendary Cuban cigar master of Partagas, Ramon Cifuentes. Macanudo ensures their remarkable quality by growing, curing and ageing their own Connecticut shade wrapper as well as ageing all of their tobacco twice. The Cafe line is the most popular by far, and is known for being very smooth and creamy. It is definitely a mild cigar that will suit any occasion. The Macanudo Maduros were introduced in the 1970's and were re-blended in 1999 for an even richer flavor. The line of Macanudo Robust cigars was released in 1998 and offers the fullest flavor. The most recent addition to these remarkable cigars is the Macanudo Gold Label cigars. You will find the same smooth and creamy flavor with a distinct sweet finish due to the rare golden Connecticut shade wrapper.

Sancho Panza Sancho and Punch (H) Monarcas

These cigars were created in 1848 by the same man who started El Rey del Mundo cigars at about the same time. The name Sancho Panza comes from the famous character of the servant in the novel Don Quixote. Sancho Panza began as a small brand mainly supported by local clients. In the 1930's it is belived that 2 legendary sizes were created; the Sancho and the Molinos. The Sancho Panza Sancho is the only other "A" size cigar in production other than the Montecristo "A" that boasts a 9 1/4 length. These cigars have an acquired taste that is aromatic with a medium body.

Punch cigars began in 1840 in Cuba. It wasn't until April 1998 that these cigars were released for the public. In November 2003 3 new sizes were introduced at a black tie dinner in London. These cigars have a lot of big flavor and have become a favorite among Cuban cigar smokers. The Trinidad Fundadores is a beautifully classic cigar. It is medium bodied and very nutty. Enjoy!

Legendary. That is what H. Upmann is.
Dating back to 1844, Herman Upmann was a German banker using specially designed cigar boxes as promotional items. It was so successful a venture, that the H. Upmann line of cigars was born. The H. Upmann line of cigars won 7 Gold Medals in 7 international exhibitions between 1862 and 1893. These awards are what you see on the boxes of H. Upmann cigars to this day.  These are also the infamous cigars that John F. Kennedy requested on the eve of the declaration of the American trade embargo with Cuba. You will find this line of cigars to offer a wide range of strengths and flavors as well as many many different sizes. Larger H. Upmanns tend to be quite peppery whereas you will find other sizes to be very smooth and soft.

Quai d'Orsay Imperiales

Quai d'Orsay cigars were created in 1973 specifically for the French state tobacco monopoly SEITA. They are a milder blend of tobacco in respect to French tastes in cigars. It is an absolute gem of a cigar. The mild creamy taste is one of the smoothest Cuban cigars in production. There are only 4 vitolas (sizes) in production and there is only 1 size available in Canada at the moment. There are a number of competing stories regarding the marque’s name and. Many believe it is simply in reference to the famous Paris Avenue; others believe that it is because the French Foreign Ministry is located on the same avenue; and many others say it is so named because the Headquarters of SEITA are also located on the Avenue Quai d'Orsay.

Padron Maduro 6000 and H. Upmann Sir Winston

Sancho Panza Sancho and Diamond Crown Maximus

These cigars were created in 1848 by the same man who started El Rey del Mundo cigars at about the same time. The name Sancho Panza comes from the famous character of the servant in the novel Don Quixote. Sancho Panza began as a small brand mainly supported by local clients. In the 1930's it is belived that 2 legendary sizes were created; the Sancho and the Molinos. The Sancho Panza Sancho is the only other "A" size cigar in production other than the Montecristo "A" that boasts a 9 1/4 length. These cigars have an acquired taste that is aromatic with a medium body.

Diamond Crown cigars were created in the 1990's as a sister cigar to the famous Opus X cigars. They are a standard in high quality mild cigars. They released the Diamond Crown Maximus cigars in 2003 in response to the demand for fuller bodied cigars. These cigars combine the talents of 3 of the most legendary hands and minds in the cigar industry. Carlos Fuente Jr. spent 3 years perfecting the exact blend for Stanford Newman of J.C. Newman cigars, and the Oliva family produces the rich Sungrown wrapper in the famous El Bajo region in Ecuador. These cigars are extremely limited. There were 2 Humidors of 72 cigars in Canada and we have 1 of them. Enjoy them while you can!

Zino Mouton Cadet #1 and Juan Lopez Selection #1

We are very excited to introduce a new addition to the wide range of non Cuban cigars we carry at City Cigar. Zino Davidoff is known throughout the world for his immense contribution to cigars as we know them. He was born in 1906 in Kiev Russia but his family immigrated to Geneva Switzerland in 1911. His father Henri Davidoff opened a tobacco shop that same year and Zino throughout the years devoted himself to learning about tobacco. He certainly did just that. He was a master of the craft and his cigars are sought after as some of the finest ever made. The Mouton Cadet line of cigars blends Honduran tobacco grown in the Santa Rosa de Copan region for both the filler and binder. The wrapper is a stunningly rich aromatic Ecuadorian grown leaf.

Joya de Nicaragua Celebration Torpedo and Trinidad Robusto Extra

Joya de Nicaragua cigars are one of the oldest cigars from Nicaragua. They began in the late 1960's in Esteli and are one of a few Nicaraguan puro cigars, meaning all the tobacco used in the cigars is Nicaraguan. The Celebration line was released in 2004 in answer to a demand for a milder cigar as the Antano line is one of the fullest non Cuban cigars on the market. These "Jewel of Nicaragua" cigars are a must have!

Trinidad cigars were originally manufactured solely for President Fidel Castro. The only time that boxes of Trinidad cigars left the country was when they were given as gifts to visiting diplomats. Production began in 1969 of only 1 size; the Fundadores. These cigars were named after one of the most beautiful cities in Cuba. It wasn't until April 1998 that these cigars were released for the public. In November 2003 3 new sizes were introduced at a black tie dinner in London. These cigars have a lot of big flavor and have become a favorite among Cuban cigar smokers. The Robusto Extra is a spectacular large gauge full bodied cigar.
Enjoy!

Saint Luis Rey Regios Cabinet Box 50 and Leon Jimenes Robusto Deluxe Tubo

The first notes regarding Saint Luis Rey cigars first appeared in 1938 and was registered as La Flor de Marquez. They were then re launched in Spain and became a huge success. The origins of the name is debated to stem from either the very popular 1927 novel by American author Thornton Wilder The Bridge of San Luis Rey or from the San Luis region itself in the Vuelta Abajo in Cuba where the world's finest cigar tobacco is grown. These premium well balanced cigars are known for their beautiful wrapper colors as well as having rich distinct honey flavors.

Leon Jimenes cigars are made in the Dominican Republic by La Aurora, the oldest cigar factory in the D.R. They were introduced in 1987. The filler tobacco is Dominican and the wrapper is a beautiful 3 year old Connecticut Shade. The rollers in the factory have a limit of how many cigars can be produced in one day so as not to compromise the remarkably high quality that is expected from any cigars produced by La Aurora. Leon Jimenes cigars are known for having an exquisite aroma and excellent balance in flavor with a wonderful hint of caramel.

San Cristobal La Fuerza and Punch Rothchild

This line of cigars was released in 1999 to commemorate the 480th Anniversary of the founding of the city of Havana. In 1519 the original colonists wanted to name this city San Cristobal in honor of Christopher Columbus, but the native people had chosen a the name in their own language for the small settlement: La Habana. Each of the 4 sizes of cigars is named after famous castles throughout Cuba: El Morro, La Punta, La Fuerza and El Principe.  Expect these cigars to be smooth and buttery. A milder Cuban cigar, it can be enjoyed any time.

These ciga
