Consistency is the key. It is best to open and inspect any boxes that you are considering purchasing. This ensures consistency within the box and also allows you to inspect for any possible tobacco beetles.
When purchasing cigars in cuba be sure to buy from a licensed government store. Cigars not purchased from a government store cannot be authenticated. Buying cigars from any other source is strongly discouraged, and are almost always fakes.
Overall no matter what brand you choose to purchase consider sizes that are unusual, less popular, or unavailable to you. These not only strengthen your chances of purchasing authentic product, but will more then likely provide you with aged product as well.
