La Flor Dominicana

Widely considered the strongest cigar brand to appear over the last decade,
La Flor Dominicana is committed first and foremost to quality. La Flor is one of the only
cigar makers in the world that grows, harvests, ages, blends and rolls its own tobacco
and cigars to ensure quality from the soil upwards.

La Flor is run by Litto and Ines Gomez who oversee all production on a day-to-day basis
and work daily on their estate farms and rolling facilities in the Domincan Republic,
pouring loving attention into every detail. This control over the process ensure a
quality product every time and no compromises are made to achieve it.

La Flor Dominicana cigars have consistently scored high ratings in Cigar Aficionado
and have garnered praise the world over for their innovative shapes,
approach and commitment to creating only the best.

Filler: Dominican

Wrapper: Ecuadorian Sun Grown

To achieve these cigars, the crown jewel of the line, estate grown Ligero tobacco
from La Flor's own fields is aged for years. The result is an unmatched cigar - very full bodied,
yet remarkably flavourful and rich. The reception of these cigars has garnered
attention and praise from the world's most discriminating aficionados.

The Chisel and Chiselito shapes by Litto Gomez offer a unique smoking experience.

The LFD Double Ligero Chisel Maduro  is an intriguing cigar.

The top of the cigar is meant to be laid flat, then using a cigar punch, you open it for smoking slightly
lower than the head of the cigar. This allows for a unique smoking perspective. I tried it, and moved
the cigar around my mouth, twisting it so the hole was hitting different areas of my palate;
even holding like a flute to see what kind of experience came from smoking a cigar this way.
The result, a fascinating smoking moment on my balcony.

With punching a cigar, it's always a more streamlined smoke so, I ended up using a guillotine to
finish the cigar as I wanted more of the flavour and nuances.

Psyche's tasting notes :
The cigar was HUGE, bold, big, heavy thick, and sweet. Moist Dirt, Allspice, Anise, Brazil nuts, Dark thick Barbados Rum, black grapes, dutch cocoa, muscovado sugar and americano...
Note: This is a powerful cigar and not one for beginners.
